David L. Carter was born at Bergstrom A.F.B., Austin, TX, to David, Sr., an Air Force NCO, & Ruby Janell (Raines), a registered nurse. At 8, while living at Yokota, A.F.B., outside Tokyo, Japan, he discovered his love for acting when he appeared in a Japanese film. It was at 12 while living at Davis-Mothan, A.F.B., Tucson, AZ, that he decided to pursue acting as a career. After a move to Laughlin, A.F.B., Del Rio, TX, where he graduated high school, the family moved to Hickam, A.F.B., Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawai'i. It was there while attending Leeward Community College where he decided to pursue writing. With his Associate in Arts, Liberal Arts in-hand, his family returned to the mainland moving to San Antonio, TX.
